Recycling Yard Operator - Craigieburn

We're seeking a reliable and motivated Recycling Yard Operator to join our team at the Craigieburn recycling facility of one of Australia's leading steel manufacturers.

This is a casual role with full-time hours, offering strong potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the Role

This hands-on, physically demanding role is best suited to someone who is physically fit and comfortable with manual labour. Excellent customer service skills are also essential, as you will regularly interact with customers and truck drivers, representing the company professionally on site.

Essential Requirements:

• Current forklift licence (mandatory)
• Experience operating excavators and/or scrap handlers - day-to-day operation is a key part of this role
• Weighbridge experience preferred, or tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn and confidently operate computer systems

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and scrap handlers to load and unload vehicles
• Drive forklifts around the yard (forklift licence required)
• Assist with traffic control
• Manually sort and prepare scrap loads
• Grade and purchase scrap using handheld grading devices or touchscreen systems
• Operate the Weighbridge Computer System
• Maintain yard cleanliness and safety standards
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors and drivers

Hours

• Standard hours: 7:00am - 3:06pm, with regular overtime including early starts and extended finishes
• Pre-employment medical required
