Job Title: Payroll Specialist (Chris21)
Location: Melbourne CBD (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 from home)
Salary: VPS5 equivalent, $71 - $79 per hour + superannuation
Contarct: 6-month contract (ASAP start until February 2026)

About the Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will join a dynamic team to provide comprehensive payroll services. This is a hybrid role that blends end-to-end payroll processing with payroll analysis and reporting. You will be a key player in ensuring accurate and timely payroll for a large workforce. Please note, availability to work during the Christmas and New Year period is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform payroll processing using the Chris21 system.
• Interpret and apply relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and legislation.
• Manage payroll inquiries, providing timely and accurate advice to employees.
• Conduct payroll analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of payroll dashboards using Power BI.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end payroll processes, including superannuation and payroll tax.
• Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and systems.

Skills & Experience Required

• Demonstrated experience in an end-to-end Payroll Officer or Specialist role.
• Essential: Proven proficiency and hands-on experience with the Chris21 payroll system.
• Highly Advantageous: Previous experience working within the Victorian Public Service (VPS).
• Experience using Power BI to build dashboards or experience with the ELMO platform is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus.
