At My Hospital Foundation, we’re working wonders for families across Mackay and the wider region. As the charity of choice for our district, we deliver vital fundraising support to Mackay Base Hospital and other public hospitals throughout the Mackay health service area.

About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Executive Officer, the Volunteer Support Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and enhancing the Foundation’s volunteer program in alignment with our Strategic Plan 2024–2028.
This is a hands-on role that requires exceptional relationship-building skills, strong organisational ability, and a passion for fostering a connected, inclusive, and engaged volunteer community.
Key responsibilities include:
Expanding and diversifying the volunteer base to meet community and service needs
Coordinating volunteer involvement across Foundation events, fundraising initiatives, and social enterprises
Supporting volunteers through onboarding, training, and ongoing engagement
Aligning volunteer activities with Mackay Hospital and Health Service priorities
Implementing best practice volunteer management in line with the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement
Building and maintaining strong relationships with community, corporate partners, and internal stakeholders
Promoting volunteer opportunities to strengthen community awareness and participation
About You
You’re a community-focused professional who thrives on connecting people and purpose. You’ll bring:
Experience coordinating or managing volunteers (paid or unpaid)
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of people
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in volunteer recruitment and retention
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to maintain accurate records
A flexible, non-judgemental approach and the ability to respond with empathy and sensitivity
