The Opportunity

The finance team provides accounting services and support to a variety of Diocesan entities whose diverse activities include commercial properties, investments, adventure activities and Diocesan administration. Reporting to the Finance Manager, we are seeking an experienced, qualified and technical accountant to join our finance team. The Financial Accountant is responsible for overseeing accounting functions and preparing accurate financial reporting to support financial and budget decision-making for the Diocese.

Your responsibilities include and not limited to:

Maintaining the general ledger including all monthly and quarterly processes.

Preparation and distribution of financial reports, analysing financial performance, and providing commentary on variances.

Preparing Business Activity Statements, fringe benefits tax and ACNC returns.

Assist with the Annual Audit.

Supervising and mentoring an Assistant Accountant.

Participate in the development of accounting policies, controls and procedures, to ensure compliance with company policies.

About You

You are a qualified accountant, holding a membership with either the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA Australia, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Proficiency in TechnologyOne is highly regarded, or the ability to learn new systems quickly. You possess strong attention to detail and accuracy, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. You are proactive in learning, can effectively manage competing priorities and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
