The Role
The Hunter Class Frigate Branch (HCFB) within the Naval Ship Building and Sustainment Group (NSSG) is seeking a self-motivated and high performing individual to join the Commercial and Finance team as a Project Finance Officer. As a Project Finance Officer, you will demonstrate a sound financial acumen and exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and the application of practices and procedures. You will assist the Finance Manager with the development and management of HCF’s budget exercises (AE’s and BE’s), manage finance support activities including simple procurement and payment of invoices. You will assist with the management of the Operating Budget and will resolve issues to contribute best practice and continuous improvement of processes related to finance. The successful candidate will challenge themselves in a fast-paced environment, have excellent written and oral communication skills and will contribute to Australian Continuous Naval Shipbuilding.
About our Team
The Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) will be one of the most advanced warships in the world with cutting edge technology and capabilities. As Australia’s largest shipbuilding project, HCF provides the foundation for Continuous Naval Shipbuilding in Australia. We are working with experts from the UK, USA, Canada and Europe to provide six frigates optimised for anti-submarine warfare to the Royal Australian Navy. The frigates are being constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia utilising the latest production technologies.

Our Ideal Candidate
HCFB are looking for someone with finance acumen, initiative and strong organisational skills, and who can work well under pressure with competing priorities. The successful candidate will have relevant project finance experience and the ability to learn quickly.
Our ideal candidate will;
- Manage and process invoices and purchase orders relating to HCF Contractor requirements;
- Sound finance acumen, problem solving and organisation skills with attention to detail;
- Sound excel skills;
- The ability to assist with the development of budget estimates for HCF Project with all stakeholders;
- Critical thinking skills, with the ability to be assertive in decision making;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- An interest in exploring innovative approaches to support and improve business processes;
- A positive attitude towards successful relationships with team members and stakeholders
