Are you passionate about working with families to support children’s development and increase parental confidence?
Do you bring warmth, authenticity, and the ability to walk alongside families on their journey to strengthen parenting and child development?
YES! Then this role might be for you. We are seeking a relational, skilled, and reflective Parenting and Early Years Practitioner (PEYP) to join our close-knit team in Kwinana.
About us
Kwinana Early Years Services (KEYS) has been strengthening families since 1993. We are a well-established, not-for-profit organisation based in Kwinana, providing free support and quality services to children, parents, carers, and grandparents.
We believe that being a parent or carer is one of the most rewarding and most challenging jobs in the world - and no one should have to do it alone. Our mission is to promote a better quality of life for families by offering an integrated range of services that support, inform, empower, and encourage.
We work alongside families with care and respect, meeting them where they are, and walking with them toward stronger, safer futures.
About the role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Parenting and Early Years Practitioner (PEYP) to join our collaborative team at KEYS in a casual capacity (up to 20 hours per week until Dec 2026, with the potential for extension). This role supports families and their children attending our KEYS to Kindy (K2K), pre-kindy program. This program focuses on early child development, school readiness, and active parent engagement in their child’s learning.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Co-facilitating KEYS to Kindy: Collaborate with your co-facilitator and Allied Health professionals to deliver engaging group sessions that support child development, school readiness, and encourage active parent engagement.
Supporting Child Development: Promote children’s growth in social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.
Strengthening Family Engagement: Build strong, trusting relationships with families, ensuring their ongoing engagement with community resources, services and schools.
Early Identification and Referrals: Conduct developmental screenings and provide early identification, intervention, and referrals to support children and families.
Key Selection Criteria
To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
Strong Understanding of Child Development: A thorough knowledge of early childhood development, including key milestones in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
Experience in Early Years or Parenting Programs: Proven experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating early years programs or parenting support, either individually or in group settings.
Effective Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with parents, children, and multidisciplinary teams, building trusting relationships.
Cultural Competence and Trauma-Informed Practice: Experience working with children and families from culturally diverse backgrounds, demonstrating sensitivity and respect for different cultural practices and values, and applying a trauma-informed approach in all interactions.
Organisational and Time Management Skills: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain accurate records, including the management of your caseload.
Self-Reflection and Professional Development: A commitment to reflective practice, with the ability to assess your own performance and seek out opportunities for professional growth and learning.
Qualifications: A qualification in Early Childhood, or an education-related discipline.
Clearances: A current (or willingness to obtain) WA Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, First Aid Certificate, and a current WA ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and the ongoing right to work in Australia.
What we offer
In return, you will be offered an attractive remuneration package (commensurate with your skills and experience), and the opportunity to work within a supportive, collaborative and flexible environment.
You will join a purpose-driven team with strong values, reflective supervision, and a commitment to walking alongside families.
