We have an exciting temporary (until December 2028) full-time position available to join our Educational Delivery team at TAFE Queensland’s SkillsTech.
Join our team as the Emerging Industries Business Development Manager where you will represent TAFE Queensland on industry groups, lead and implement key business objectives with respect to industry collaboration, assist in the identification of key skills gaps, propose training products and other solutions, and generate and refer commercial leads to TAFE Queensland regions.
The position reports to the Director, Commercial Services
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the success of the organisation through promoting and modelling SkillsTech’s core values and Agreed Behaviours and the established TAFE Queensland values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First.
• Establish and develop effective industry relationships, networks, and strategic alliances, which facilitate opportunities to improve TAFE Queensland’s current market position as a provider of vocational education and training (VET) to the advanced manufacturing and renewables industries, and solidify TAFE Queensland’s status as the preferred VET provider in these emerging industries.
• Manage the strategic and operational aspects of the Project, including the preparation of project planning documentation, comprehensive briefings and reports, and the management of the specific financial obligations associated with the project funding arrangement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, business development units, and educational delivery teams to communicate industry learnings, refine TAFE Queensland Emerging Industry roadmaps and strategies, and to ensure appropriate representatives of TAFE Queensland are present at key network meetings.
• Provide high level strategic advice, information and reports to the Senior Executive Team (SET) and Business Managers/Faculty Leads regarding key Emerging Industries’ markets and products for the future as well as key issues with the potential to impact future planning and achievement of growth targets.
• Critically analyse and review progress against agreed project timeframes by establishing and monitoring key performance indicators, identifying and addressing risks, and regularly reporting recommendations to the SET.
• Regularly liaise with the VET Emerging Industries Project Manager to ensure VET Emerging Industries Initiative projects are progressing consistent with Industry expectation, and to advise of any recommended changes to the implementation of projects after considering and/or incorporating feedback from industry groups and networks.
• Provide expert advice on additional collaborative projects/work which can be undertaken to enhance TAFE Queensland’s capability and status as a preferred education and training provider to Emerging Industries.
• Contribute to improvement in business processes and practices by fostering an environment where high quality work is achieved and is supported by the development of, and adherence to, quality systems.
• Proactively participate in local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes, seeking opportunities for self-development and contributing to the development of the team through knowledge sharing, the provision of support and guidance, and maximising opportunities for collaboration.

How you will be assessed
Within the context of the role description above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities
1. Demonstrated high level program/project management skills (including knowledge of PRINCE2 or similar Project Management methodology), with the proven ability to manage complex projects to successful outcomes.
2. High level communication, consultation and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse range of key stakeholders, including third party service providers, where required.
3. Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations at the executive level and ensure project information is communicated to key stakeholders effectively, and in a timely manner.
4. Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes that contribute positively to the strategic objectives of a large organisation.
5. Leads, builds and sustains positive relationships with team members, vendors, stakeholders and clients and is responsive to client and stakeholder needs and expectations.
Highly desirable requirement:
• Previous experience in a relevant field, including evidence of strategic leadership within an educational institution, will be considered favourably.
