We are seeking senior allied health professionals with experience in clinical leadership, complex case management, assessment, trauma informed therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal. You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with children and young people.

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioners to provide clinical services with children and young people experiencing mental health concerns who are in out of home care. The positions available are within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The Lead Practitioner will be part of the Out of Home Care Program and will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach, trauma informed therapy, and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical leadership to the team.

  • Leadership training is available and provided by the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with University of Tasmania.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality trauma informed mental health services to children and young people who are in out of home care.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
  • Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new child and youth mental health services in Tasmania.
  • Leading and working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge, skill and expertise in providing clinical service delivery related to the program area and ability to provide high level clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and to work under minimal supervision.
  2. Compressive knowledge of relevant, evidenced-based contemporary approaches to child and youth mental health services together with experience working as a senior health professional in relevant clinical practice settings.
  3. Demonstrated experience working in a recovery-orientated, trauma informed care approach to children, young people and their families/significant others to ensure positive outcomes within the program area.

The position is based in either Northwest (Burnie or Devonport). Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $123,717 to $130,900 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience relevant to the role
  • Holds or is working towards post graduate qualifications relevant to the role
