Chippy's Outdoor is seeking an experienced Yard Person with timber industry experience and an ability to also assist our Sales Team to join our dynamic team in Melbourne, Victoria. You will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the day to day running of the business, with a hands-on approach. This is a customer-facing role based in our showroom/warehouse, where you'll assist clients, manage our yard, and support day-to-day sales and admin tasks.

What you'll be doing:

Picking and packing orders

Loading/Unloading Trucks

Checking off Deliveries ensuring quality control, correct items received and quantities.

Ensuring our warehouse remains orderly, tidy and safe at all times.

Putting stock away (some heavy lifting will be required)

Loading Customers

Processing Customer Sales

Assisting with sales enquiries in store / online / phone (product knowledge will be required and developed)

Delivering positive customer outcomes

Undertaking customer quotes and follow-ups

Managing workflow, delivery runs and schedules, special orders, and inventory control

Periodic stock takes.

Some local deliveries to customers from time to time.

Assisting in other areas of the business as needed

Identify opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness for the business

What we're looking for:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a yardman and in customer facing roles

Experience with a counterbalance forklift

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

Highly organised with strong attention to detail

Forklift licence

Prior knowledge in the Timber, Building or Landscape Industry will be looked on favourably

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proactive in managing customer workflow

Ability to multitask in a high-pressure work environment

Willing to diversify their skillset and assist in other areas of the business

Our Trading hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am - 5.00pm, Saturdays 7.30am - Midday, closed Public Holidays.

This is a fulltime role Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday work may be required.
