Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapists to join our Renal Outpatient team.
About Northern Health:
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital.
In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) department at Northern Health prides itself on being inclusive, supportive and is committed to evidence-based practice.
We are a team of OT's who are driven by positive patient outcomes and team work.
We employ over 100 staff just within the OT department and enjoy seeing our team take on opportunities to support their growth and development.
We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join our team at Northern Health at a part time basis.
This role requires a therapist with experience in community or subacute settings who is passionate about providing person-centred care.
This role works with the Renal outpatient team, for patients undergoing dialysis or living with Chronic Kidney Disease.
It is predominantly based at the Northern Hospital Epping but also services Epping Private Hospital, Broadmeadows Hospital, Craigieburn Centre and Kilmore District Hospital as required.
You will be responsible for completing pre home dialysis assessments for both peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis, as well as providing OT intervention to support patients to maintain their preferred dialysis modality.
OT assessment and intervention will also be provided for nephrology patients including the provision of symptom management for CKD patients attending the outpatient clinics or dialysis units.
This role will work closely with the allied health teams, nursing staff, nephrologists, and chronic kidney disease educators.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Fully registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Eligible for membership with OT AUstralia
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check VIC
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated experience or willingness to learn about chronic health conditions
- Sound working knowledge of community services
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
