St John of God Frankston Rehabilitation Hospital is a 60-bed rehabilitation hospital focused on supporting patients to regain independence and improving their quality of life by offering specialist neurological, cardiac, orthopaedic, movement disorder (including Parkinson's disease) and reconditioning programs to patients from across the Mornington Peninsula and Greater Melbourne areas.

Your role at St John of God Frankston Hospital
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Occupational Therapist (Grade 2/3) to join our Outpatient Department on a leave cover contract for a fixed part time or full-time role, with the possibility of extension.

You will work within a supportive multi-disciplinary team, providing advanced clinical Occupational Therapy services to clients with complex neurological needs in our outpatient department.

The Position

  • Provides clinical services to client/patient groups and circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced Occupational Therapy practice skills.
  • Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties. This requires liaison with the administration team, reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation.
  • Patients'/clients plans and outcomes are regularly monitored through attendance at and participation in clinical team meetings as required.
  • Active participation in the multidisciplinary team.
  • Referrals to external agencies are initiated in a timely manner.
  • Uses an evidence-based, problem-solving approach to clinical care and service development.
  • Promotes professional values and ethics in clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates consolidated, current knowledge of research, evidence-based practice in Occupational Therapy and related clinical areas.
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to clients/patients and or carers on an individual or group level for both inpatients and outpatients. Completion of comprehensive patient assessment (e.g. assessment of personal care, domestic and community ADLs, assessment of the home environment, cognitive and functional physical assessment as required).
  • Provision of a comprehensive treatment intervention and appropriate progression treatment to match functional goals.
  • Provide consultation and support to medical, nursing, catering and allied health professionals within the Division as appropriate.

You will hold a registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist and will have current valid Drivers License.

To succeed you will have advanced clinical experience in Occupational Therapy across a range or within the relevant clinical specialty, including in the management of complex patients, within the relevant healthcare and disability service setting. For a grade 3 Occupational Therapist you will demonstrate prior leadership experience.

  • Salary: $117605 to $132042 per annum (pro rata if part time) plus 12% superannuation - Grade 3
  • Salary: $95432 to $114129 per annum (pro rata if part time) plus 12% superannuation - Grade 2
  • Fixed term - Permanent full time or part time position available
  • 5 weeks annual leave
