About VACCHO
VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 34 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

The VACCHO Public Health Registrar supports the Public Health Medical Officer(s) in their role of: Providing high-level public health expertise and advice to all program areas of VACCHO and supporting clinical quality improvement in VACCHO’s member ACCOs; Supporting the quality improvement of health services to Aboriginal Victorians through continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes, sector capacity building, and advocacy to governments; Actively contributing to expert advisory bodies, CQI projects, and health protection activities.

Essential skills/experiences

Before applying, please ensure you meet the entry requirements for the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) Advanced Training Program as per the entry requirements in the Public Health Medicine 2025 Handbook:

Medical registration

3 years full-time equivalent postgraduate clinical experience

Completed a Master of Public Health or equivalent, including the five compulsory core subjects: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health protection (including Environmental Health and/or Communicable Disease Prevention and Control), Health promotion, and Health policy, planning or management

Desirable

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.

Experience within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health, primary health, or community health environments.

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) was established in 1996. VACCHO is the peak Aboriginal health body representing 100% of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in Victoria. The role of VACCHO is to build the capacity of its Membership and to advocate for issues on their behalf.

Capacity is built amongst Members through strengthening support networks, increasing workforce development opportunities and through leadership on particular health areas.
