Role Overview
Position: Executive General Manager
Purpose: Lead, inspire, and innovate as you build a high-performance allied health team that delivers top-tier service, achieves ambitious financial targets, and nurtures a strong, cohesive team culture at Actevate. This role offers you the chance to shape the future of people risk services pertinent to the delivery of occupational rehabilitation and prevention services.
Reports to: CEO
Direct Reports: Team Leaders for Return-to-Work (both same and different employer streams), Administration Manager, Finance Team.

Essential Criteria

We’re seeking ambitious individuals with a blend of entrepreneurship, boldness, experience and vision. Candidates must have:

Qualifications

Allied Health qualifications (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology) or a similar background.

Registration with a relevant professional body in Australia.

Experience

Leadership experience in Allied Health, within the SIRA licensed sector of Occupational Rehabilitation in NSW.

Demonstrated excellence in managing workers compensation customers across the spectrum of multilateral stakeholder relationships.

Proven ability to recruit, mentor and drive team productivity and financial success.

Demonstrated competency in the management of the SIRA licensing framework for Approved Occupational Rehabilitation Providers in the NSW scheme.

Skills and Competencies

Strong people management and mentoring abilities.

High-level organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.

Superior communication skills for building influential relationships with channel partners, service agents, and employer preferred provider partnerships.

Financial management proficiency, particularly in the enhancement of time recording, billing and performance metrics.

Technical Knowledge

Familiarity with the strategic implementation of the biopsychosocial model and its applications in workplace health.

Knowledge of ISO accreditation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

Demonstrated capability in developing and executing competitive tenders commensurate with workplace health services.

Expertise in writing submissions for Deed Provision under the icare scheme.

Expertise in procuring and maintaining licensing in Workers Compensation jurisdiction in other states and territories.

Candidates ideally present with:

Postgraduate Qualifications

Business Management, Healthcare Management, or similar (Preferred)

Accreditations commensurate with auditing, undertaking mediation services or other streams relevant to provision of workplace health services. (Preferred)

Executive Leadership Experience

Experience at an executive level within occupational rehabilitation, including the provision of board reports to Directors, Regulators and Industry bodies.

Track record of implementing change as well as creating and driving innovative service models.

Track record of onboarding as well as mentoring team members who are underperforming and building pathways to longevity or departure.

Project Management Excellence

Experience leading projects, launching new service lines, and improving efficiencies across the spectrum of workplace health and professional services.

Ability to build cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact initiatives.

Strategic Stakeholder Engagement

Network within the insurance, healthcare, or corporate sectors and work alongside senior leads in the development and enhancement of Actevate’s grants.

Proven experience in business development and creating referral streams and appointing case managers with a metric and evidence-based framework to ensure their success.

Service Delivery Management

Lead innovation and service quality, aligning operations with Actevate’s strategic vision.

Ensure timely and effective service delivery, meeting SIRA compliance standards.

People Leadership

Inspire and develop your team, conduct performance reviews, and promote a culture of excellence commensurate with our values.

Take ownership of recruitment, onboarding, and team morale, fostering a cohesive work environment.

Advocate for professional development and drive adoption of biopsychosocial models in rehabilitation.

Operational Excellence

Lead resource planning and audits, ensuring adherence to quality standards.

Manage the quality of service, support professional development, and protect intellectual property.

Financial Performance

What Success Looks Like

This role includes a well-defined set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), giving you a clear path to success. You’ll drive:

Billing and Productivity

Target 6 billable hours (minimum) per consultant while refining strategies for risk management and stakeholder engagement.

Return-to-Work Outcomes

Achieve or surpass SIRA standards, with 90% and 60% success in key service areas.

Service Excellence

Maintain an average of 80% or higher across all service streams, ensuring Actevate’s standards are consistently met.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

Maintain SIRA approval

Maintain ISO9001 accreditation

Ensure 80% compliance with Actevate’s service models through a robust quality assurance system.

Ensure the retention of customers, by over 80% per year.
