We are seeking to establish a Pool of Visitor Service Officers for vacancies that may arise at the Museum of the Great Southern within the next 18 months with the possibility of Casual, Fixed-term, Part-time, Full-time, and Permanent appointments.

About the role

The role of the Visitor Services Officer (VSO) is to provide a welcoming environment and high-quality experience for visitors to the Museum of the Great Southern. The VSOs ensure the safety of visitors and staff within the Museum, as well as the security of the Museum collection.

About you

We are seeking dynamic, self-motivated individuals who enjoy working in a positive team environment and delivering a high-quality customer service.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Relish working in a customer service environment.
  • Provide a high level of visitor engagement through tours, technology, and interpretive programs.
  • Support retail activities.
  • Support public events and functions through either the event set-up and/or pack down.
  • Provide a high standard of security and safety for visitors and the Museum precinct.

Eligibility to Apply

  • To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid Work Visa (for fixed term appointments), or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.
  • A current (within six (6) months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

We also require the following:

  • A valid Working with Children Check (or initially, the receipt of application is accepted).

Special Conditions

Requirement to work a roster including weekends and evening shifts (applicable penalties apply).

Pool Recruitment

This Pool will be open for a period of 18 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed-term, full-time, part-time and casual appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
