We’re looking for a Leading Hand / Machine Operator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on machinery expertise with leadership skills, and who enjoys working outdoors in dynamic, often remote locations.

About the Role

As a Leading Hand / Machine Operator, you'll be responsible for both operating machinery and leading a small on-site crew. You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate machinery including excavators and other trail-building equipment

Supervise day-to-day activities on-site and support team coordination

Read and interpret plans to ensure trail design specifications are met

Communicate effectively with project managers and crew

Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with WHS standards

Conduct basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

Proven experience operating excavators in trail-building.

Previous experience leading or supervising a small team

Strong understanding of safety protocols and environmental best practices

Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments

Current driver’s licence and Construction White Card

Desirable:

WHS and Environmental training

First Aid certification

4WD skills and machinery tickets
