About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Officer to join our Facilities team to manage the day-to-day maintenance requirements of Council's vast building portfolio. As our new Facilities Officer, you will make a difference daily by managing the reactive, regulatory and routine maintenance programs to service Council's owned and/or operated facilities. Key responsibilities will include administering of works orders, Purchase orders and schedules, regular site inspections, auditing of Council buildings, liaising with Council staff and stakeholders, (including user groups, tenants, committees and the general public) and supporting with Contractor Management, auditing of safety, quality and compliance. You will need to be an excellent communicator, proficient at writing email correspondences and reports, hold a sound understanding of current building maintenance practices and be able to work autonomously and efficiently.

You will report directly to the Coordinator Facilities and work collaboratively with the Major Projects and Facilities team, facilitating success on a number of our key projects, as well as fulfilling all operational requirements of the role.

This role will require participation in Council's 24/7 After-Hours Building Maintenance on-call roster, shared across four (4) officers on a fortnightly rotation. On-call allowance is provisional to this role.

This is a full-time permanent role based at Knox City Council - Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be $98,353.35 to $107,416.64 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will bring to this role

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Practical knowledge of all physical building services, current maintenance practices and National Construction Code requirements.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical and comprehension skills with the ability to make autonomous, informed decisions.
  • Sound understanding of Contractor management, OHS requirements and experience in administering same.
