The Peregrine Centre helps social impact organisations to innovate better services, backed by user insight, clinical science, and data-based evaluation. We are proud to be awarded a 5-year partnership with NSW Health to translate research into high-quality community-based supports for mental health and resilience in rural, regional and remote NSW.

We are seeking an applicant with outstanding networks in the mental health field to be our connection to the local community. Core Responsibilities include:

NETWORK BUILDING: Create and nurture local networks to encourage the implementation of mental health best-practice in your regions

TRAINING: Promote and encourage use of learning resources and research supports. This may include activities such as local presentations, participation in local practitioner networks, and leading local learning cohorts. Curate and create resources for the mental health workforce.

SUPPORTING RESEARCH: Encouraging clinicians to apply for our small project grants, working with grant recipients to help them with tasks like recruitment.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact for anyone committed to the idea that any NSW resident should be able to access the best quality mental health services when they need them.

This is a part-time role on a limited contract until October, 2026. Possible extension. Either work 16 hours per week, covering Western and Far West NSW, or take one of the regions in 8 hours per week. Local Project Officers will work from home with flexible hours as long as they attend weekly Thursday afternoon meetings via videoconference. They can be based anywhere in the local region. IT packages to facilitate remote work will be supplied. A small weekly allowance will be provided for use of their own motor vehicle for local travel. Overnight travel within NSW will be required from time to time, these travel expenses will be paid.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Postgraduate research qualifications in mental health related field, such as Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or Social Work, where research subjects were included. Candidates currently completing their postgraduate studies will be considered.

Familiarity with practice-based research in the mental health field.

Facilitation skills for learning groups with mental health workers

Excellent local networks and ability to grow them

Demonstrated advanced written and oral communication skills

Exemplary interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage a range of stakeholders

Ability to work independently and show initiative
