About the opportunity
As our Project Engineer you will manage the procurement and delivery of field investigation packages across Inland Rail's Northern NSW program. This role oversees geotechnical, environmental, heritage, and utility surveys, coordinating technical, commercial, and logistical aspects to ensure alignment with project timelines, budgets, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Manage delivery of fieldwork packages, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, environmental approvals, safety and quality standards.
- Supervise contractors and consultants during fieldwork execution, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and management plans.
- Prepare Scopes of Work for field investigation contracts, coordinating with internal subject matter experts to gather and clarify requirements.
- Monitor, report, and forecast cost, schedule, scope, quality and risk on assigned projects.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including coordination of land access for field investigation works.
- Coordinate the review and finalisation of field data and deliverables.
- Assist in contract management, including verification of invoices and payment claims.
- Contribute to Project and Program safety requirements and initiatives and act in a safe manner befitting the safety requirements and culture of IRPL.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be someone who thrives in a complex multi-disciplinary project environment. You bring a collaborative mindset, proven accountability, and a passion for delivering high-quality outcomes for the project.
You will be able to demonstrate
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience on infrastructure project delivery, preferably in rail or transport.
- Strong understanding of project delivery processes and management of contractors.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of work health and safety principles in a major project environment
- Strong problem solving and reasoning skills.
- Driver's Licence - Class C
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Eligibility to obtain CPEng/NER/RPEQ
- Experience in developing detailed Scopes of Work.
- Experience in procurement and tendering process.
- Sound knowledge of State & Federal Government Approval frameworks for significant infrastructure projects.
