Your Next Employer

Our client is a leader in large-scale, sustainable broadacre cropping. This 5,500ha aggregation in Dandaragan has come through extensive soil improvement and boasts a modern fleet of machinery and a motivated team. Recognised as Farm of the Year (2023), this operation continues to set the benchmark in productivity and innovation. Their commitment to people, infrastructure, and equipment is second to none - they strive to foster a workplace culture that values growth, autonomy, resilience, and community.

The Role

Reporting to the Farm Manager, you’ll play a key role in daily operations while developing leadership skills and stepping up when the manager is away. You’ll work alongside a junior team and contribute to both on-ground farm work and broader decision-making. This role offers exposure to commercial aspects of large-scale cropping for those keen to develop in this area.

This position is more than just a job - it’s an opportunity to be part of an operation that values initiative, accountability, and community involvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spraying Operations – Independently assess conditions, operate self-propelled and tow-behind rigs, and manage chemical applications.
  • Harvest & Machinery – Operate modern John Deere headers and general cropping equipment.
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting – Conduct basic machinery maintenance and problem-solving in the field.
  • Decision-Making & Accountability – Take responsibility for assessing crop conditions, weather impacts, and fertiliser applications.
  • Farm & Team Involvement – Work closely with the Farm Manager and support the development of junior staff.
  • Agronomy Exposure – Engage with the farm agronomist and gain insights into crop management (should you wish).
  • Community Engagement – Be part of a team-focused culture, with opportunities to get involved in grower networks and industry groups.

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone with broadacre experience who thrives on taking ownership and working in a high-performing team. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Several years of experience in broadacre farming, with the confidence to make independent decisions.
  • Good spraying experience, including the ability to assess conditions and operate rigs autonomously.
  • Mechanical aptitude, capable of identifying and troubleshooting machinery issues.
  • HR Licence (minimum requirement).
  • A proactive and reliable approach, taking responsibility for tasks and learning from challenges.
  • A willingness to ask questions, challenge ideas, and contribute to farm improvements.
  • A community-focused mindset, keen to be part of a team that values collaboration and industry engagement.

What You’ll Gain

  • Competitive Package: Base salary will be $90k - $95k + Super + work ute + house. Note: all overtime hours are paid at the equivalent salaried rate. Based on an average 52 hour work week (as recorded by the team last year), total earnings will be circa $117k - $125k per year, plus super.
  • Hours: Guaranteed 40-hour weeks, likely to average circa 50-55 hours pw
  • Flexible Summer Workload: January-February offers reduced work hours (8-hour days or 4-day weeks), 40 hours still paid.
  • On-Farm Accommodation: 3-bedroom house (utilities included), with a potential option of a 4-bed house.
  • Career Development: Opportunities to step into more responsibility and leadership roles.
  • Modern Fleet: All machinery under 5 years old, plus a brand new sprayer arriving soon.
