Lead Engineer – SCADA Owners Team

With a clear focus on innovation and resilience, the business is undergoing a major SCADA transformation to modernise systems, enhance efficiency, and future-proof critical infrastructure.
As part of this ambitious program, they are seeking a technically exceptional and strategically minded Lead Engineer to join the SCADA Owners Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the success of this high-impact initiative.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of the SCADA transformation program. You’ll act as the technical authority, ensuring that engineering solutions meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency - while championing innovation and collaboration across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the subject matter expert for all Industrial Control Systems (ICS) engineering matters.
- Providing ultimate engineering sign-off for technical project acceptance, ensuring deliverables meet industry standards.
- Interfacing between the project team and internal stakeholders to ensure engineering solutions meet operational needs.
- Leading design workshops, technical reviews, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Supporting Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT) and resolving complex technical issues.
- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, and developing training programs to support operational teams.
- Ensuring a smooth operational handover by embedding robust engineering and change management practices.
Your Background
You’re a highly skilled engineer with deep expertise in SCADA systems and Industrial Control Systems and a proven ability to balance technical detail with strategic oversight.
You’ll bring:
- A tertiary degree in Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer (Electrical) in Victoria.
- Significant experience in ICS engineering and project delivery, including commissioning and change management.
- Proven ability to lead and influence across multi-disciplinary teams in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Deep technical expertise in areas such as SCADA, telemetry systems, industrial communications, alarm management, HMI design, and Microsoft server administration.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- A strong commitment to safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
