About the Role:

This newly-created role is a direct result of Suncorp’s bold Cloud-First strategy—an exciting opportunity to make a real impact. You’ll be at the forefront of driving cost optimisation across Suncorp’s multi-cloud environment, ensuring we extract maximum business value from every initiative.

As a Solution Architect, you’ll lead the evaluation and implementation of a modern FinOps tooling stack, while identifying and modernising inefficient processes. You’ll use your strong influencing skills to engage senior stakeholders and tech leadership, embedding a culture of cost awareness and optimisation across the organisation.

This is a high-profile, impactful role where your expertise in cloud, FinOps, and stakeholder management will directly shape Suncorp’s financial and operational cloud strategy.

What you’ll do:

• Define current, transition, and target state solution architectures aligned with domain and group strategy.
• Provide design leadership, ensuring solutions are reusable, scalable, secure, and implementable.
• Evaluate FinOps tooling and lead the implementation of a modern, efficient stack.
• Identify and modernise inefficient FinOps processes, driving documentation, best practices, and cost-conscious workflows.
• Provide technical leadership and influence stakeholders to embed a culture of cloud cost optimisation across the organisation.

What you’ll bring:

• Minimum 5 years’ IT experience, including 3 years in IT Architecture or Design.
• Hands-on cloud solution architecture experience, including AWS and/or Azure.
• Exposure to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills to drive alignment and change.
• Familiarity with ArchiMate, Agile and Lean methodologies (desired), and background in insurance or financial services (desired).
