About The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Community Recovery Resilience Officer to play a vital role in building stronger, more resilient communities across the Bundaberg Local Government Area (LGA). In this position, you will be responsible for supporting individuals, community groups, organisations, and service providers to improve their disaster preparedness and recovery capacity. This role is temporary part-time position - concluding on 31/03/2027. Minimum 38 hours per fortnight with flexibility around working day pattern.

Your work will focus on fostering local resilience through collaboration, education, and strategic engagement. By empowering communities with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need, you will help enhance resilience and recovery outcomes to reduce the impacts of future disasters. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a grassroots level -strengthening networks, improving preparedness, and contributing to a safer, more connected Bundaberg region.

About You

  • Applicant must hold a current C Class drivers’ licence.
  • Demonstrated experience of community development work at the local community level.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop plans, education strategies and resources.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to identify strategic goals and work autonomously against a project plan to achieve milestones and key objectives.
  • High-level communication, presentation and negotiation skills with a proven ability to effectively facilitate stakeholder relationships and achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-motivated to achieve outcomes but contribute to overarching team goals and deadlines.
  • Highly developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of processes, practices and tools to support disaster management outcomes (desirable)
