Your new role
As Chief Nursing Officer, you will report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. You will lead national initiatives focused on comprehensive patient-centred care, clinical risk management, and communication for safety. Your work will span strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and program oversight, ensuring alignment with national safety and quality priorities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert clinical advice to the executive, board, and standing committees.
- Leading the development and implementation of national safety and quality policies and programs.
- Managing cross-functional teams delivering high-impact projects in patient care and clinical communication.
- Representing the organisation at national and international forums, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders across government, health departments, and professional bodies.
- Overseeing strategic planning, program evaluation, and the delivery of evidence-based initiatives that improve outcomes for patients and clinicians.
This is a high-impact leadership role with national visibility and influence.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Current registration as a nurse and extensive experience in professional nursing practice and leadership.
- Deep knowledge of the Australian healthcare system, including safety and quality frameworks, clinical governance, and government processes.
- A proven track record of leading complex, multi-jurisdictional programs and delivering measurable improvements in healthcare outcomes.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at the highest levels.
- Strategic thinking, high-level analytical skills, and the ability to translate clinical insights into national policy and practice.
