About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Specialist Family Counsellor to join our dedicated team in Bowen. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide counselling and case management to vulnerable families, helping to strengthen relationships and improve the wellbeing and safety of children and young people. You’ll also facilitate group sessions and deliver community education to empower families and build resilience across the region.

Our team works across the Whitsundays to support victims of domestic and family violence, sexual assault, and families at risk — through education, empowerment, and compassionate care.

Location
This position is based in Bowen, with occasional outreach work across the Whitsundays.

Position Details & Remuneration
This is a full-time position based on 76 hours per fortnight, however part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
Remuneration is based on qualifications and experience, in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award (SCHADS) and the National Employment Standards. The salary range falls between Level 4 Pay Point 1 and Level 5 Pay Point 1.

What You’ll Need
Essential:
Minimum qualification: Diploma of Counselling
Current Queensland Blue Card (must be obtained prior to commencement)
Current Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline
At least 2 years’ experience in a counselling setting
Experience working with children and families
Sound understanding of the impact of domestic and family violence
Eligibility or working towards membership with AASW, APS, ACA, or PACFA
