The Opportunity
The Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL) is the peak employer body for Australia’s rapidly growing private security industry. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Workplace Relations specialist for a role that offers high-quality, impactful work in a rapidly growing industry sector.
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for providing advice and support to assist and guide members in managing their employees and helping shape best-practice people strategies across the industry.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Senior Workplace Relations Advisor you will be a trusted source of advice and support for members on a wide range of workplace matters, including:
Providing HR and workplace relations advice to members navigating complex employment challenges.
Providing assistance to members on industrial relations matters with the Fair Work Commission
Representing members on IR matters including modern award variations, wage claims/disputes, industrial tribunals, unfair dismissals, rates of pay and conditions of awards.
Providing guidance to members on interpreting modern awards, employment contracts, and workplace policies.
Assisting members with preparation of employment contracts, training contracts, disciplinary and termination procedures, settlement agreements, general policies and procedures.
Assisting members with advice on employee performance management (bullying and harassment, discrimination and sexual harassment) and behavioural and disciplinary matters, discussions and warnings.
Providing assistance in developing workplace/enterprise agreements.
Delivering training on compliance, workplace culture, and risk management.
Contributing to industrial relations advocacy, engaging with government, regulators, and industry stakeholders to influence workplace policy and legislative change.
Providing input into policies, procedures, and compliance with employment legislation.
About you
As an experienced Workplace Relations professional you will have:
10 years + experience in HR advisory, workplace relations or consulting roles.
A strong understanding of employment legislation, modern awards and workplace relations frameworks.
Excellent problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
The ability to manage a diverse caseload and provide strategic advice to employers
A passion for helping businesses navigate workplace challenges and shaping workplace relations policy.
The ability to interpret industrial instruments and apply them in practical workplace scenarios.
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
Previous experience working with unions and employee representatives.
Relevant degree in HR, IR Law or similar.
Proven ability in handling Fair Work applications and dispute resolution.
