About the Role
We’re looking for a technically skilled and solutions-focused Data and Automation Analyst to join our National Team in Sydney. This role is ideal for someone early in their data career (1 - 3 years’ experience), ready to take ownership of data operations across reporting, automation, and business tools.
You’ll play a key role in designing and maintaining data pipelines, automating manual tasks, improving reporting capabilities, and supporting the architecture of Jira workflows and automations. You’ll work across a modern tech stack that includes BigQuery, Atlassian, Zapier, and Twilio to drive better decision-making and smarter operations.
Role Responsibilities
Data Infrastructure and Reporting
Build and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows using SQL and BigQuery
Develop reports and dashboards to support business insights and performance tracking
Ensure data integrity and consistency across systems
Automation and Business Tools
Design, build and maintain Zapier and Twilio workflows, and automations to ensure efficiency
Help integrate various platforms for seamless data exchange and operational flow
Project Support and Innovation
Collaborate with internal teams to identify areas for automation and efficiency
Translate business needs into data solutions and custom automations
Key Skills and Attributes
1 - 3 years’ experience in data, business intelligence, or automation-related role
Proficient in SQL with hands-on experience building queries and managing databases
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and a drive to simplify and improve systems
Exposure to tools such as Zapier, Jira, Twilio, BigQuery, or similar platforms
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and and non-technical teams
Bonus points for: experience with customer journey mapping or programmatic marketing tools

Team Structure
At What Ability, we follow a unique organisational structure known as our "Help Chart," which intentionally flips the traditional hierarchy. Our CEO, Jared Chapman, sits at the bottom, supporting the rest of the team to succeed from the ground up.
This role reports directly to our COO, Nick Carroll, and will work closely with both the COO and CEO to drive data-informed decision making across the organisation. You will also collaborate with potential external partners and service providers to help implement automation tools, maintain our systems architecture, and support strategic projects.
