- Facilities Manager
- Griffith University, Gold Coast (Campus Living Villages)
- Are you a hands-on Facilities Manager with a keen eye for both detail and the bigger picture? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and manage a facility that’s full of character, with the exciting prospect of overseeing a brand-new purpose-built building?
FutureYou is partnering with Campus Living Villages at Griffith University, Gold Coast. They are looking for a Facilities Manager who thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment. In this standalone role, you’ll manage the maintenance and operations of an older 3-story building, while working closely with a dedicated handyman.
The campus is currently a construction site, so your foresight and ability to see opportunities in challenging environments will be key. Next year, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to take full ownership of an 11-story purpose-built asset.
This is a hands-on position with responsibility for repairs, maintenance, and contractor management. If you have a proactive, physically capable approach, excellent leadership skills, and experience with facilities management in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Maintenance: Perform essential repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance, while leading the handyman and overseeing contractors.
- Asset Oversight: Manage the asset lifecycle, including preparing for the transition to a new 11-story building next year, with complete oversight of the asset.
- Contractor Management: Oversee external service providers and ensure contracts are well-executed, with performance reviews and safety compliance.
- Safety and Risk Management: Implement and maintain safety management plans, ensuring compliance in a live construction site environment.
- Team Coordination: Manage the handyman, ensuring they have the resources and support to deliver high-quality work.
- Problem Solving: Navigate the complexities of managing an old building while preparing for the new development. Bring foresight and innovative solutions to make the transition as smooth as possible.
- Resident Satisfaction: Ensure residents’ needs are met, ensuring the building remains functional and safe for all.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Technical Skills: Strong hands-on maintenance skills in carpentry, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage and coordinate small teams, such as a handyman, and oversee contractors.
- Physical Capability: Must be physically able to perform manual work and oversee maintenance tasks.
- Asset Management: Experience in overseeing the maintenance lifecycle and working with asset management systems.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle complex, dynamic environments (such as a building site) and turn challenges into opportunities.
- Experience: Previous facilities management experience, ideally in residential or campus settings.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage internal teams, contractors, and engage with residents.
- Vision for Growth: Preparedness to oversee the transition to a new building and manage its operations effectively.
Benefits:
- Stable and supportive team
- Dynamic environment
- Complete oversight of a purposely built 11-story building
