About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture the WHS Advisor is responsible for providing advice and support to managers, and for leading or co-ordinating nominated WHS and injury management projects, processes and activities.
Working to annual priorities, the WHS Advisor will systematically assess safety risks and current controls, and where required will develop practical additional controls including WHS documentation, employee resources, education materials and other useful materials.
The role will work with operations and managers to support injured workers and oversee any RTW plans. This position also ensures compliance with legislative requirements and maintains, monitors & reports on key WHS metrics.
This is a part-time permanent role (0.6) with flexible working arrangements available.
Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, you will:
- Promote an ‘injury prevention’ culture and support employees and managers to positively contribute
- Develop and support the implementation of clear, easy to follow WHS procedures, resources and tools that meet the needs of our workforce
- Develop and/or maintain policies, procedures and documentation as required (eg following legislative updates or for scheduled periodic documentation reviews etc).
- Oversee / contribute to inspections / audits and timely outcomes
- Monitor legislative updates, determine impact and as relevant make recommendations
- Review / scrutinise staff hazard and incident reporting; monitor incident investigations and close out (by managers); generate injury/near miss/ hazard data including trending; make recommendations
- Ensure there is a complete and working roster of First Aiders, emergency response personnel etc at all office locations, as required by law
- Assess / develop and/or deliver education / training sessions / toolbox topics as required, ensuring high quality content and applicability / relevance
- Manage workers compensation claims /IM support
- Lead or contribute to key WHS projects and HR activities
About You
You are a qualified and experienced WHS professional who thrives in a values-based environment. You bring:
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong project coordination skills.
- Experience in WHS and injury management, ideally within health, aged care, or community services.
- A practical approach to safety that resonates with frontline workers and office-based teams alike.
- Intermediate to Advanced skills across the Microsoft Office suite and other technology systems
- A genuine interest in wellbeing and creating a positive workplace culture.
Experience in wellbeing programs and the health sector will be highly regarded.
To be considered for this role you must have full Australian working rights, current Police & Working with Children Checks – we can arrange police checks for successful candidates. Our selection process also includes psychometric assessment.
