The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and values-driven Policy and Governance Officer to join our East Melbourne office. This full-time role is pivotal in supporting Mercy Education’s commitment to excellence in governance, compliance, and risk management. Reporting to the National Lead, Legal Services, the successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures, manage compliance systems, and provide strategic advice on risk and legal obligations.

This is a five-year appointment with a six-month probation period.

Key responsibilities

Lead the review, development, and implementation of MEL policies and procedures

Maintain a robust policy management system and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements

Provide advice on legal and compliance matters including WHS, child safety, and privacy

Manage risk and compliance registers, incident reporting, and investigations

Deliver policy training and professional learning aligned with best practice

Support the Mercy ethos and mission through all aspects of the role
