Saltwater Aquarium Store Sales Assistant

Our client is looking for 2 enthusiastic Store Assistants to join their young, vibrant team.

Pay: $26-35 per hour (commensurate with experience)

This is a permanent position, with full time or part-time hours flexibility depending on operational requirements. Candidates with a minimum of 2 years hands-on experience owning a Saltwater Tank as a Hobbyist, a passion for marine life, and a cheerful, hardworking attitude is a definite advantage. We offer a competitive award wage that commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities :

Clean and maintain saltwater aquarium tanks, including gravel vacuuming, water changes, and coral care

Monitor and maintain optimal water quality for saltwater tanks, including salinity, pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels

Perform manual handling tasks, such as lifting and moving equipment, supplies, and saltwater containers (up to 20kg +)

Clean and maintain saltwater-specific equipment, such as protein skimmers, UV sterilizers, and reef tank filters

Assist with saltwater tank set-ups, including live rock placement, coral fragging, and marine livestock acclimation

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment at all times

Follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment as required

Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 20kg + and perform manual handling tasks

Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment

Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Positive, cheerful, and hardworking attitude

Must be able to work Wed-Fri, between 12pm-6pm and some weekends if required

Able to pass a National Police Check

Degree in Marine Biology or High School Diploma

Valid driver's license, a clean driving record and own transport to get to/fro work punctually, free parking

Reside in Eastern Suburbs or within 10km radius

Sales and customer service solutions with a can-do and "customer is king" attitude

Previous experience working in a similar environment or as a marine hobbyist is a definite advantage

Strong knowledge of saltwater fish, corals, aquarium maintenance, marine life care, and water chemistry
