About the Role

Ngala is currently recruiting for a Social Worker on 0.6FTE to provide a Social Work service that supports families access Ngala’s Residential Parenting Services. This will be part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The NRPS operates 6 days over a 24-hour period. Work hours and days will vary depending on the service, and the position may involve shift work.

This role provides flexibility, however there may be times when you may be required to pick up afternoon and evening shifts, ie. 12noon to 8pm.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Work in partnership and collaborate with families and the Ngala Residential Parenting Service (NRPS) team to help ensure their optimum health, emotional and social outcomes.

• Support families in transitioning to parenting and parenting young children, using Family Partnership principles.

• Support parents in accessing community services that help strengthen their parenting capacity and connection with their children.

What We’re Looking For

• Eligibility for membership of Australian Association of Social Workers.

• Applies a range of social work assessment, interventions, evaluations, and recommendations from a strengths-based, trauma informed perspective.

• Works from relevant theoretical models including early child development, attachment theory, infant mental health, brain development, family systems, social learning theory, the ecological model and father inclusive practice.

• Broad knowledge of Western Australian health and welfare systems.

• Sound knowledge and skill in working with issues such as perinatal mental health, child protection, domestic violence, drug and alcohol use, and mental health concerns.

• Ability to maintain client records and agency reports.

• Demonstrated understanding of First Nations families and cross-cultural practice.

Ability to practice within legal, ethical, organisational and professional boundaries.

• Prioritises workload to achieve optimal client outcomes.

• Hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Check issued within the last 6 months.

• Current Working with Children Check.
