The Community Program Officer will play a vital role in delivering a community-focused engagement project aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals to improve access to public transport and into sustainable employment in the transport industry. The role requires someone with strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and recruitment experience to successfully attract, support, and coordinate training and employment outcomes. You will have experience working with diverse cultures and vulnerable communities.
We are looking for a dynamic organised person to;
· Develop and implement strategies to attract candidates from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, employment providers, and training organisations.
· Conduct candidate screening and support them through the onboarding and training pipeline utilising best practice recruitment practices.
· Carry out pre-employment screening including reference checks, testing, medicals and criminal record & Working with Children checks
Tracking of applicants, responding to applicants and providing feedback and updates on applicant progress ensuring adherence with employment legislation
Training & Employment Coordination
· Liaise with accredited third-party training providers to ensure timely and appropriate delivery of driver training.
· Monitor candidate progress and provide support throughout the training and job placement journey.
Project Management & Reporting
·Manage the project in line with budgetary, timeline, and KPI requirements.
.Compile accurate and timely reports on project performance and candidate outcomes.
·Maintain detailed records and contribute to funding and compliance reporting.
Communications & Relationship Management
·Represent the organisation professionally in all external communications and community engagement.
·Build trust and rapport with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Operational Duties
·Work autonomously both in-office and on the road to meet project objectives.
·Use BYU vehicle for community and partner engagement as required.
·Maintain high standards of data accuracy and confidentiality in all administrative tasks.
The desired candidate will have;
·Formal qualifications in Community Development (Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree preferred)
·Demonstrated recruitment project management experience, with the ability to “hit the ground running”
·Proven experience in recruitment or workforce development, ideally in the transport or community services sector
·Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
·Excellent time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail
· Ability to work autonomously and adapt to working in various settings (office/community)
Understanding of strength-based and person-centred approaches when supporting vulnerable individuals
