Mesh & Bar is an innovative & independent manufacturer of reinforcing steel and mesh products. Since being established in 1998, we have enjoyed significant growth throughout eastern Australia. The Queensland arm of our business proudly manufactures and distributes to the construction industry from our facilities located at Redbank, Caloundra and soon to be from our new state-of-the-art facility at Brendale.

About the role

Due to increasing growth, we have multiple positions available in our Caloundra team for labourers who would be willing to be trained & progress to machine & gantry crane operators over our day & afternoon shifts. These roles offer a competitive base hourly rate with the opportunity for paid overtime.

No experience necessary – full training provided to the right applicants.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Removing product from machines to designated accumulation areas or onto vehicles for delivery
• Operating machines for cutting, bending & straightening steel
• In process QA checks, measuring bar length & angles
• Pre-start machine checks
• Operating an overhead gantry crane using a handheld remote control
• Loading and unloading machines with coils & straight length bars
• 5S understanding & compliance
• Load restraint compliance

The successful applicant requires:

• A high level of motivation & attention to detail with a sense of urgency
• The ability to follow safe work procedures & adhere to company policies
• The ability to understand, follow and comply with WH&S obligations and demonstrate a safe work ethic
• Reliable transport to & from work
• Ability to work different shifts and overtime as required
• A forklift ticket is desirable, but not essential
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug & alcohol screening

This is a varied, busy and challenging role, with emphasis on a team environment. It is essential you are a self-starter with strong communication skills & good time management.
