Director of Nursing – Aged Care - North Melbourne
We are proud to be partnering with a leading aged care provider in the search for an experienced Director of Nursing to oversee a modern, state-of-the-art large residential aged care facility in North Melbourne

This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role with a new aged care faclity, that has already achieved a 5-Star Quality Measure Rating and a strong accreditation status through to 2027.

The Role As Director of Nursing, you’ll lead clinical excellence and ensure best practice across a large-scale home. This is a hands-on leadership role, with approximately 50% of your time spent out on the floor, engaging with staff and residents, driving culture, and embedding continuous improvement initiatives.

You will be supported by:

• A very strong clincial team across the home
• A dedicated Executive Quality Manager
• A stable night-duty structure supported by RNs, ENs, and PCAs

This is not a heavy operational role — instead, it’s about clinical leadership, mentoring, education, and driving standards to ensure residents receive the highest quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical governance and ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards
• Provide visible leadership and be actively present across the home
• Mentor, support, and develop junior staff to strengthen clinical capability
• Partner with the Executive Quality Manager to identify and address educational gaps
• Review and manage complaints to minimise recurrence and improve resident experience
• Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

About You

• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Director of Nursing (not open to Care Managers stepping up)
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Strong clinical leadership background with a focus on mentoring and capability-building
• Proven ability to lead within a large RACF
• Passion for delivering resident-centred care and driving a positive team culture
