Temporary Part-Time – up to 28 hours per week, up to April 2026
Salary commencing from $1,470.82 per week + 12% Superannuation

About the opportunity:
Are you passionate about protecting Country, enhancing biodiversity, and strengthening community resilience through Traditional Knowledge? We’re seeking a dedicated and culturally aware professional to help shape and deliver Caring for Country outcomes in partnership with Traditional Owners and stakeholders.
In this meaningful role, you’ll integrate First Nations knowledge and practices to support land and waterway health, protect local ecosystems, and foster mutual learning across communities. Working within Council’s Sustainability Policy and Strategy, you’ll co-design and implement programs that honour cultural heritage while driving environmental sustainability.

To succeed in this position, you will meet the following criteria:
Tertiary qualifications in Science, Ecology, Environmental Management or Conservation and Ecosystem Management or similar qualifications
Current Class C drivers’ licence
Demonstrated project management experience in designing and delivering programs with environmental and community outcomes
Experience in organising or facilitating educational programs to various stakeholders in Aboriginal culture, Caring for Country, and environmental management
An understanding of Traditional Owners and the context of this in a contemporary social and political setting
Demonstrated understanding of and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and a good understanding of traditional and contemporary First Nations culture
Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including Traditional Owners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents, Aboriginal organisations, the Council, and government and non-government agencies
Demonstrated time management, negotiation, conflict resolution, writing and communication skills
