About the role

This is a (12-month fixed-term parental leave cover) full time role within a purpose-driven team. The role will provide advocacy, information and education to older people. Advocates also engage with and deliver educations to families and carers, aged and community care staff, health and welfare professionals and community group to raise awareness of the rights of older people and the prevention of all forms of elder abuse. The role will include frequent travel to deliver information and advocacy support. Reporting to the Team Leader, you’ll work collaboratively with fellow Advocates and the wider Advocare team to advance our shared objectives.

We are searching for someone who can meet the following essential work-related requirements:

Confident and passionate individuals with significant experience and knowledge of working in an advocate, case manager, and/or coordination role within the Aged Care sector.

Proven knowledge of the aged care system including but not limited to Home Care and or Residential Aged Care guidelines, the Aged Care Act, Aged Care Quality Standards and Aged Care Rights.

Ability to understand and apply legislation, policies and procedures, including the ability to identify issues and problem solve.

Work empathetically with clients to ensure we deliver rights-based and client-focused services.

High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with challenging situations confidently.

Strong administrative skills, including the use of Client Management Systems.

Demonstrated sound professional ethics of confidentiality, sensitivity and resilience.

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as, business, management, community work or equivalent experience.
