What is the role?

Applications are being sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member Finance - Northern Command at the AFP Band 4 level.

The Command Corporate Support Unit (CCSU) Finance team supports Northern Command through the delivery of procurement services, financial policy advice, management accounting and reporting, asset management, fleet services and facilities services aligned with the Northern Command CCSU service offer. You will play a key role in the delivery of day-to-day services that enables the Command’s financial and commercial compliance and operational readiness.

You are highly organised, making sound decisions to achieve quality results. You perform a range of corporate activities and are the initial point of contact for frontline enquires, escalating matters as appropriate to ensure high quality and timely services are delivered to the Command.

You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.

What will you do?

As a Northern Command Finance Team Member, you contribute to CCSU tasks based on Command priorities, performing a variety of procurement and/or contract management activities for the Command.

Your responsibilities may include the following:

Working collaboratively with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Portfolio, national teams/centres of excellence to contribute to the procurement of goods and services as well as provide finance and commercial services to the Command.

Assisting with financial forecasting, business risk analysis and budget development.

Supporting the delivery of Northern Command (NC) procurement activities in accordance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act), including:

Assisting the senior team member and team leader to provide the Command with procurement advice and support to acquire appropriate goods and services;

Assisting the senior team member and team leader with the completion of tender documentation, contract registration, creation of shopping carts and invoice processing along with other transactional purchasing requirements;

Monitoring and maintaining NC procurement and reporting to ensure financial compliance; and

Assisting with localised training to the frontline on procurement processes.

Coordinating Fleet including utilisation reporting, servicing, fuel cards, insurance claims, parking, and infringements, maintaining a detailed and accurate information on all NC fleet vehicles.

Undertaking asset management activities including stocktakes and asset disposal.

Responding to ad-hoc enquiries relating to finance, procurement, assets, and fleet.

Supporting the development of all relevant business, strategic and enterprise-wide reporting requirements.

Performing a range of office management activities including triaging team’s inbox and responding to enquiries in a timely manner.

Keeping up to date with relevant changes of team’s policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements

You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.

A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Previous experience in a finance role or financial qualifications.

Demonstrated capacity to produce quality reports suitable for a range of audiences.

Proven ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.

Good organisational, administrative and time management skills, including ability to analyse data.

Attention to detail and Intermediate or Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

· This position is an AFP Band 4 level.

· This role is located in Brisbane and applicants are expected to be based in Brisbane.
