Reporting to the Head of Finance – Aged Care and Community Services (ACCS), the Finance Manager will work in a highly collaborative manner with cross functional teams. The purpose of this role is to lead the financial accounting team in the effective delivery and innovation of the core financial accounting activity. The Finance Manager will drive efficiencies and best practice to enable a digital future and improve stakeholder and team outcomes
We are looking for an exceptional communicator with strong technical accountancy and change management skills.
Please note, this is a full time, permanent position. Flexibility is important to us, and we know it is to you, too - this role supports hybrid working.
Your part in our UnitingCare team:
Develop, document and maintain the financial reporting month end close and year end close processes, and facilitate the maintenance of chart of account dimensions and general ledger account structures within the financial management information systems
Manage the delivery of general ledger account reconciliation and verification activities
Manage the delivery of financial reporting, including financial statements preparation, acquittals and other external reporting that meets all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, accounting standards, funder requirements and/or approved policy
Support the delivery of tax compliance and other regulatory activities and reporting
Provide financial information, support and advice to the respective UnitingCare business units and functions
Manage the internal/external audit requirements of activities that fall within the financial accounting and reporting team responsibilities, including interaction with business areas and provision of information requirements.
Re-engineer finance processes to optimise, standardise (system agnostic) and improve workflows, with a focus on automation.
Champion innovative changes and technology-enabled solutions.
Be proactively involved in related projects in accordance with strategic requirements and ensure that any resulting new policy and procedures are developed, documented and implemented successfully.
What makes a difference for us?
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or a related field, either studying towards or completed CA/CPA.
Management experience in dynamic change environments, ideally within a large,
complex organisation.
Proven experience in defining and driving the transformation of financial accounting teams using technology and reengineering processes, including aligning technology, change management, workforce and strategies with business priorities.
Ability to manage, develop staff and oversee the delivery and performance of a team.
Ability to apply planning, coordination and time management skills to projects and tasks. Ability to work in a structured team and effectively contribute to outcomes. Use of sound problem solving skills and a logical, organised approach to work.
Strong finance and accounting competency with knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and legislation relevant to work environment.
Advanced technology skills including advance MS Excel capabilities.
Ability to interpret and analyse large complex data sources with minimal corrections
Knowledge of AX09, Microsoft Dynamics and BI reporting systems as applicable.
Sound communication reasoning and stakeholder management skills
