The role:
As the Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of financial planning, budgeting and reporting frameworks to ensure effective governance and performance across the Delivery Services Branch.
You will provide accurate and timely financial reporting to executive management and other stakeholders, while maintaining strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including project delivery teams and senior and executive management.
As the Senior Finance Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial planning, budgeting, and reporting frameworks, processes, and systems.
- Providing advice, recommendations, and interpretation of directives to develop practical solutions that ensure compliance with financial management practices, legislative requirements, and government policy.
- Supporting project delivery teams with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to ensure alignment with portfolio and program objectives.
- Developing and utilising management tools to analyse and report data, ensuring records are accurate, timely, and meaningful.
- Preparing briefing notes and monthly reports to support budget and forecast positions.
- Ensuring compliance with all statutory and reporting requirements, including the Financial Management Practice Manual (FMPM) and public administration policies.
Are you right for this role?
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards, legislation, and contemporary financial and budgetary management practices and policies.
- The ability to provide professional advice to the Director and other stakeholders in the areas of financial and budgetary management within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience in review, interpretation, and analysis of financial information.
- Knowledge of in portfolio, program and project accounting highly desirable.
