Role Overview

Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a role where you'll be both a strategist and a hands-on leader. You will guide a tight knit team spanning service desk, infrastructure, software development and web development, ensuring that technology runs smoothly day to day. Each week you'll drive governance and prioritisation, manage key vendor relationships, and lead automation initiatives that free staff from manual tasks and bring measurable efficiency gains.

At the same time, you'll define and deliver a clear technology roadmap. That means balancing immediate stabilisation with carefully planned upgrades, embedding standards for change management, documentation and incident response, and strengthening monitoring and backup so issues are prevented before they disrupt the business.

Your leadership will be highly visible at ELT level, where you will brief senior stakeholders on performance, cost, risk and progress. You'll advance disaster recovery and compliance, including PCI DSS, while steadily moving the environment toward a modern, resilient and efficient state. The focus is on delivering tangible outcomes that protect the business, reduce cost and give staff and customers a better, more seamless experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set and deliver a pragmatic technology roadmap aligned to business goals and ELT priorities
  • Stabilise legacy on premise systems with strong monitoring, backup and patching disciplines
  • Lead automation using Microsoft 365, Power Automate and scripting to digitise manual processes
  • Establish and run fit for purpose governance for intake, prioritisation and status reporting
  • Strengthen security controls and uplift compliance, including PCI DSS obligations
  • Own disaster recovery planning, testing and continuous improvement
  • Consolidate licensing and services, renegotiate vendor contracts and reduce total cost
  • Provide clear monthly reporting on risk, cost, performance and benefits realised
  • Guide migration and hybrid initiatives where appropriate, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Coach and develop the service desk, operations, software and web teams with servant leadership
  • Partner closely with the CEO, CFO and peers to translate needs into actionable technology outcomes
  • Maintain high quality documentation, standards and change control across the estate

Candidate Profile

You are a technology leader who grew from the tools up and still enjoys being hands on when it matters. Your career spans infrastructure, networks, security, virtualisation and systems across legacy and hybrid environments. You are fluent in Microsoft 365, Power Automate and scripting, and you turn this knowledge into automation that removes manual effort, reduces risk and lowers cost. You bring a record of stabilising platforms while planning upgrades that move the environment forward.

Your leadership style is calm, clear and positive. You set direction, create guardrails and lead by example. You build capability across service desk, operations, software and web, lift standards for change, documentation and incident response, and foster a culture where people take ownership and improve every week. You coach, recognise good work and make it easy for others to do their best.

You are confident with senior stakeholders and comfortable presenting at ELT level. You form productive relationships with vendors and peers, make sound decisions under pressure and stay focused on long term outcomes. You thrive in environments with a lot to fix, enjoy visible progress, and take pride in results that strengthen disaster recovery, uplift compliance including PCI DSS, and deliver a better experience for staff and customers.

Company, Culture & Benefits

Join a confident Australian organisation that values resilience, accountability and collaboration. The team is lean which means your decisions matter and your results will be noticed. You will have a seat at the table, the trust to act, and the chance to shape how technology supports growth, efficiency and risk reduction over time. The environment suits someone who enjoys both planning and doing.

  • Direct ELT access and genuine decision making authority
  • Clear success markers across 3, 6, 12 and 24 months with strong sponsorship
  • Investment in modern tooling and practical learning to support automation
