The Role
We are seeking a reliable Nursery Leading Hand – Irrigation to join our Lindendale team. This hands-on role focuses on the day-to-day operation and maintenance of irrigation systems to support healthy plant growth. You’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager and wider team, performing nursery tasks while ensuring irrigation runs smoothly.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of Leading Hands is to perform duties in accordance with the procedures and productivity standards set by the Nursery Manager.

Lead by example by setting the pace and ensuring quality outcomes are achieved across all Nursery areas in which they are working.

Provide guidance, direction, and support to staff at the same or junior levels to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in line with MB policies and horticultural best practices.

Use their experience to confidently undertake tasks and demonstrate them to peers or junior staff, without the need for reminders, except where crop-specific requirements or parameters vary.

Ensure irrigation is deployed according to the daily plan and report any faults promptly.

DUTIES

Maintain tools, equipment, and water supply systems in good working order.

Carry out nursery tasks including plant care, weeding, hygiene, and chemical/fertiliser applications.

Maintain nursery records and report hazards, incidents, or equipment faults.

Assist in other departments or locations when trained, including fieldwork, workshop tasks, or truck driving.

About You

Experience in nursery, horticulture, or irrigation operations is an advantage.

Hands-on, practical, and reliable with a proactive approach.

Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious.

Ability to work well within a team and provide support to peers as well as work autonomously.

Willingness to work every second weekend as part of a rotation.
