We are seeking a full time Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our Operations team and perform a range of tasks relating to the routine maintenance and upkeep of our PARED school grounds. The role will primarily service our west schools, Montgrove College in Orchard Hills and Wollemi College in Werrington, and one to two days per week assisting with projects at our north-west schools, Tangara School for Girls in Cherrybrook and Redfield College in Dural.
As you will be working near teachers, students and external visitors, this role will need to ensure that work is conducted in a safe, well organised and professional manner.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Ground maintenance including mowing, edging, weeding, trimming/pruning and general tidying.
General site maintenance and upkeep including carrying out minor repairs to buildings, plant, and equipment, and often with hand or electrical tools and general property machinery.
Organising rooms, furniture, lockers and other items/equipment for school activities as required; dismantle and store items when not in use., and other items/equipment for school activities as required; dismantling and storing
Liaising effectively with services trade people and external providers
Identifying and reporting maintenance/safety issues, ensuring site compliance to WHS obligations and regulations
Unpacking, storing and/or distributing supplies in accordance with school procedures and safe work standards (e.g., chemical storage and handling)
Monitoring school security systems and reporting faults to the Facilities Manager
Other related duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sound judgement in WHS matters regarding personal safety and the safety of others
MUST HAVE a valid Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Confident and experienced in the use of hand and power tools to carry out general maintenance/repairs to a high standard
Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with tradespeople, suppliers, school staff and students
Knowledge and proven experience in general site maintenance and upkeep
Exceptional time management skills
Sound technology skills to respond to requests via our maintenance systems.
Please note that the successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a current NSW Working with Children Check.
Salary for this role will be commensurate with experience.
