Parkville College — Cherry Creek Campus (just outside Werribee)

Teaching and training roles in a unique youth-justice education setting

About us:

Parkville College’s Cherry Creek campus delivers education programs inside the youth justice system for young people aged 14–22. This is a purposeful, high-impact teaching environment where education plays a central role in rehabilitation and community reintegration. We have toured the facility and can confirm it has excellent structures, safety procedures and operational supports in place to help teachers thrive and focus on learning outcomes.

Onsite tours at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre can be arranged to understand the teaching environment if required.

Who we’re looking for:

We are recruiting motivated, resilient and student-centred educators with the following qualifications:

- VIT registration (classroom teachers)

- TAE (Trainer and Assessor) qualifications

- PTT-qualified educators (as applicable)

We welcome applicants across all disciplines — English, Maths, Science, Humanities, VET trades and hospitality, arts, ICT, wellbeing and specialist programs. If you’re curious about different education settings and want to make a direct impact on the lives of young people in custody, we want to hear from you.

Available roles

- Classroom Teacher (VIT) — secondary curriculum delivery, differentiated teaching, classroom management, assessment and reporting.

- VET Trainer/Assessor (TAE) — deliver accredited vocational programs, assessment, workplace liaison and pathway planning.

- PTT-qualified Educator — deliver transition, life skills and pre-vocational programs (role scope varies by program).

- Casual / Relief Teaching opportunities — cover lessons, support continuity of learning.

Positions available: full-time and part-time options. We will consider flexible arrangements for the right candidates.

Why consider Cherry Creek?

- Real impact: education contributes directly to rehabilitation and re‑entry success.

- Strong systems: the facility is well-resourced with clear processes to keep staff and students safe and supported.

- Professional support: comprehensive induction, ongoing professional development and on-site support are provided for successful candidates.

- Collegiate environment: multidisciplinary teams work closely with wellbeing staff, allied professionals and community partners.

- Standard working conditions: school day runs 8:30am–4:06pm. School holidays and other Department of Education & Training (DET) employment conditions apply.

Is this role for you?

This work is rewarding but demanding. It is not for everyone. Successful applicants will demonstrate:

- Commitment to trauma-informed, restorative and strengths-based practice.

- Flexibility, resilience and strong behaviour management skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.

- A willingness to learn and engage with the youth justice context.

What we offer

- Structured induction and role-specific training.

- Ongoing professional development and mentoring.

- Full-time and part-time positions and casual opportunities.

- A chance to contribute to meaningful change in young people’s lives.
