Job Description:

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-driven Payroll Officer to join our team!
In this pivotal role, you’ll manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance with legislation, and play a key part in system integration projects that drive efficiency and innovation. You’ll collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and IT teams, contributing to operational decisions and helping to shape consistent, best-practice payroll across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, ensuring full compliance with tax and superannuation requirements.

Resolve complex payroll issues in partnership with HR and Finance, providing clear solutions and guidance.

Support the implementation and integration of new payroll systems and technologies, working closely with IT and Finance to align processes across the business.

Identify and drive opportunities for automation, process improvement, and greater efficiency within payroll workflows.

Prepare and analyse payroll reports for senior management and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights.

Oversee compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including audits and reconciliations.

Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and data integrity.

Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making on payroll processes and employee compensation.

The ideal candidates will have:

3+ years’ experience within payroll ideally within a retail environment

Proven leadership experience in payroll operations

Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, tax requirements, and superannuation compliance

Hands-on experience with payroll system implementation and integration

Strong analytical skills, with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Proficiency in Xero, including financial record-keeping and reporting

Solid understanding of bookkeeping practices and financial reporting

Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all financial transactions and reporting
