We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Film Liaison Officer to join our Major Events and Film team!
What You Will Do:
As the Film Liaison Officer, you will play a key role in promoting Cairns as a vibrant, film-friendly destination for local and international productions. You will be the go-to contact for filmmakers, assisting with permits, access to Council services, and coordinating filming logistics. You will collaborate closely with government agencies, local businesses, and industry stakeholders to ensure productions run smoothly.
Your efforts will not only support seamless filming experiences but also help showcase the region’s stunning natural landscapes and diverse locations. In addition, you will contribute to broader destination marketing and tourism initiatives, strengthening Cairns’ profile and driving economic growth through increased exposure and visitor interest.
What We Are Looking For:
Qualifications in a related field, such as Film, Media, Arts, Public Relations, Events Management or Marketing at a Bachelor Degree level or extensive experience working within the Film Industry.
Strong understanding of filmmaking and film related logistics with the ability to apply processes, principles and strategies for film and event facilitation and support activities within a Local Government environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, presentations and submissions.
Demonstrated planning, project management and organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities, schedule and to meet deadlines in a busy and demanding environment.
Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships and work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all levels to achieve desired outcomes.
Experience working with government departments, local businesses and external stakeholders.
