Hays Recruitment are working with a fast-growing agricultural company based in the Ararat/West Victoria region. The organisation is going through a large growth period, and are in need of a highly experienced Financial Controller to join the team

Established in 2020, and responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of farms across multiple states that produce grains, wool, and livestock, they have combined modern farming techniques with a strong focus on sustainability and community involvement. They are looking for a candidate that can grow with the organisation and has experience in the agriculture or farming sector.

Your new role

As an experienced Financial Controller, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Prepare and manage financial reports across all divisions, including revenue, costs and cash flow
  
• Deliver monthly board reports, including budgets, variance analysis and cash flow updates
  
• Oversee full-year statutory accounts and coordinate the external audit process
  
• Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory obligations
  
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure financial compliance across the group
  
• Support the implementation of new systems and processes to enable business growth
  
• Lead financial planning and analysis, including scenario modelling for future growth
  
• Provide mentorship and supervision to staff handling accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable
  
• Manage financial aspects of R&D activities, including tracking spend, grant reporting and acquittals
  
• Liaise with external parties such as banks, insurers and accounting firms
  

What you'll need to succeed

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and Finance
  
• Completed CPA/CA
  
• Minimum 10+ years' experience in a senior finance role, ideally within agribusiness or asset-heavy industries
  
• Experience in biological assets within accounting is highly regarded
  
• Proven leadership in financial reporting, compliance, and team management
  
• Advanced proficiency in Xero, Microsoft Excel and other software platforms
  
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  
• Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines
  
• Adaptable, proactive, and confident in driving change
