Key Responsibilities
As a Community Worker, you will play a vital role in:
Assessing clients’ needs and developing educational, training, and support programs
Interviewing clients to understand the extent of their challenges and difficulties
Monitoring and reporting on client progress and well-being
Referring clients to relevant agencies and services for additional support
Assessing community needs and resources in areas such as health, welfare, housing, employment, and training
Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies, and private businesses to address local issues and promote available services
Supporting families and individuals by providing education and care for children, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups in adult service units, group housing, and government institutions
Supervising individuals on probation and parole and helping them reintegrate into society
Assisting young people with social, emotional, and financial challenges
Preparing funding submissions and reports for government agencies and resource allocation
Facilitating community development projects to create collective solutions addressing health, housing, employment, recreation, and welfare needs
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Diploma in Community Services (or a related field) OR at least three years of experience in community work
Minimum one year of industry experience (preferably in disability, mental health, or aged care settings)
Strong understanding of NDIS and disability services in Australia, or willingness to learn
Excellent communication, case management, and reporting skills
Ability to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with clients and stakeholders
First Aid and Manual Handling certificates (or willingness to obtain)
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (preferred)
Strong time management and organizational skills
Note: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a probity check, including the NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
