About the Opportunity
Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a full-time Workshop Supervisor based in Maningrida, NT.
Reporting to the Manager – Construction & Commercial Trade Services, you’ll oversee day-to-day workshop operations across both Light Vehicle (LV) and Heavy Vehicle (HV) services, with a stronger focus on the LV side. You’ll lead a small team, mentor apprentices, and ensure that quality repairs and maintenance services are delivered to support BAC’s essential community operations.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Planning and overseeing workshop operations across HV and LV repairs
Supervising and mentoring mechanics, apprentices, and tyre fitters
Managing Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMS) and delegating tasks
Ensuring high standards of safety, documentation, and customer service
Managing inventory and spare parts, including the retail outlet and recycling yard
Providing hands-on technical support and guidance when needed
Fostering teamwork in a cross-cultural environment and supporting local upskilling
Contributing to a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
About You
We’re looking for skilled Mechanics Leaders with experience in light vehicles and heavy vehicles.
To qualify, you’ll need:
Trade qualifications in Light Vehicle and/or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
A valid Driver’s Licence
Experience in inventory and parts management
At least 5 years’ experience supervising workshop operations
Strong technical knowledge, especially in LV servicing and repairs
A willingness to work in a remote Aboriginal community setting
WHS awareness and a high standard of documentation and communication
Additionally, we value candidates who have:
Previous experience in a community development or not-for-profit organisation
Diesel fitter, air-conditioning, or HR/MR licences
Experience in remote/Indigenous settings
National Police Clearance with no criminal convictions
NT Roadworthy certification capability (advantageous)
