Pickle & Lou Cafe Wattle Grove is currently looking for an Experienced Cafe Chef for day shifts only. The Cafe is open for Breakfast and Lunch 7 days a week. 2 in the kitchen Monday to Friday and 3 in the kitchen weekends. The job is very flexible and owners are all about work - life balance.

Requirements of the Cafe Chef

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (minimum qualification required).

A Diploma of Hospitality Management will be highly regarded.

At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a qualified chef.

Have your Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

Have good communication skills

Be able to start at 6am on some days

Be able to work Weekends

Be reliable and work well in a team

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation

Manage inventory, control food costs, and work within budget constraints

Collaborate with management on menu planning, special events, and promotional activities

Handle customer feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve dining experience

Planning and preparing menus in consultation with management, considering customer preferences, seasonal availability and cost.

Supervising and coordinating kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking and presentation of meals.

Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure consistency.

Ensuring food safety, hygiene and workplace health & safety standards are maintained at all times.

Ordering, receiving and managing stock, supplies and kitchen equipment.

Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness.

Developing new recipes and contributing to menu innovation.

Controlling portion sizes, minimising wastage and monitoring food and labour costs.
