Estimator / Cost Planner – $80,000 + Super

We’re currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-respected, award-winning construction company. They are seeking an experienced Estimator / Cost Planner to join their growing team. About the Role
Reporting directly to the Project Manager and Director, the Estimator/Cost Planner will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates across various stages of construction projects. The role offers flexibility for study commitments, with allowances for university/study days and the option to work from home when required.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare accurate estimates across all project design stages

Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns

Review and analyse project plans, specifications, and tender documentation

Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to gather pricing and resolve cost issues

Maintain and update internal cost databases and historical pricing

Manage and track multiple tenders simultaneously

Participate in value engineering and cost-saving exercises pre- and during construction

Attend site visits to assess project conditions

Prepare and submit compliant bid proposals

Review subcontractor and consultant pricing for accuracy and completeness

Participate in pre-bid meetings and presentations

Stay current with market pricing trends and industry developments

Support the delivery team with cost-related issues throughout the project lifecycle

About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:

A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related field

A minimum of 4 years' experience in the construction industry, with a strong focus on estimating

Proficiency in estimating software and tools including Cubit Estimating, MS Project, Procore, and EstimateOne

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes

Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Confidence in reviewing preliminary documentation and making well-informed assumptions to produce timely, accurate costings

Performance Expectations

Deliver accurate, complete, and profitable estimates on time

Ensure realistic construction methodologies are factored into estimates

Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate pricing

Proactively follow up on outstanding tenders and RFIs
